Are you looking for your ideal pickup truck to drive all over South Bend? Then you will want to visit Auto Park Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and check out our new inventory. You can find new trucks like the Ram 1500. The Ram 1500 delivers outstanding performance, rugged design, and exciting features. But is it the best truck option for you? How does it compare to similar trucks like the Toyota Tundra? Keep reading to find out how.

Engine Options

The Ram 1500 has four engine options for customers from Mishawaka, IN, to choose from:

  • Standard 3.6-liter Pentastar® V-6 engine with 305 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque
  • Available 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine with eTorque with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque
  • Available 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine with 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque
  • Available Supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® V-8 engine with 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque (available only on Ram 1500 TRX)

The Toyota Tundra has three 3.4-liter V-6 engine options for customers to choose from:

  • 3.4-liter Twin-Turbo V-6 engine with 358 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque
  • 3.4-liter Twin-Turbo V-6 engine with 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque
  • 3.-liter Twin-Turbo V-6 engine with 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque

It is worth noting that the Tundra has no diesel engine option. Plenty of drivers like the fuel efficiency and powerful torque provided by an engine that runs on diesel fuel. When you choose to drive a new Ram 1500, you can opt for a Ram 1500 TRX model with an engine that far surpasses the performance of any Tundra engine.

Performance

When you need to tow a heavy trailer or boat in Warsaw, IN, a Ram 1500 can be a great choice. The Ram 1500 has a maximum available towing capacity of 12,750 pounds, so it can handle tough towing jobs just about anywhere you need them. The Tundra has a maximum available towing capacity of 12,000 pounds, falling well short of the Ram 1500. Both the Ram 1500 and Tundra come standard with rear-wheel drive and have available four-wheel drive. The Ram 1500 comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the Tundra comes standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Interior

The Ram 1500 offers an available 12-way power driver's seat with four-way power lumbar. The Tundra only offers up to an available 10-way power adjustable driver's seat. Both the Tundra and Ram 1500 come standard with six speakers. However, the Ram 1500 offers two more available systems: a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, and an available 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The Tundra also offers an available nine-speaker audio system, but its top-level audio system has just 12 speakers, seven fewer than the Ram 1500.

Tech & Safety Features

The base Ram 1500 trim has a five-inch infotainment touchscreen. All higher trims have either an 8.4-inch or 12-inch infotainment touchscreen. The Tundra comes standard with an eight-inch touchscreen, while a 14-inch screen is available. Ram 1500 models with an 8.4-inch touchscreen or a 12-inch touchscreen also come with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, while these features are standard on the Tundra.

The Tundra comes standard with safety features that include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. These features are available for the Ram 1500.
